Hanks High School - YISD

Project Description
The scope of work for this project consists of renovation and improvements to various areas within Hanks High School, which include a secure entry vestibule, a remodeled life cycle (heat/cooling) administration area, auditorium, gym, library, and classroom alterations, a new fire sprinkler system to accomodate measures needed to meet new codes, and a re-roof covering that entails majority of the existing school and distinct areas with needed attention. This project is yet another effort made to enhance an existing schools capabilities while keeping up with new code and maintaining safety as the number one priority.

Riverside Middle School - YISD

Project Description
The scope of work for Riverside Middle School consists of a secure entry vestibule, administration area, classrooms, fine arts, restrooms, and gym alterations. This project was approached through the assessment of the schools existing conditions and what the owner, YISD, had envisioned for this remodel and life cycle (heat/cooling). Through close collaboration and communication, it was determined which spaces needed the most attention in order to enhace the schools learning environment whilst creating a safe one aswell.

Glen Cove Elementary School - YISD

Project Description
The scope of work for this project consists of renovation and improvements to various areas within Glen Cove Elementary School, which include a secure entry vestibule, upgrade evaporative cooling to refrigerated air), a new fire sprinkler system to accomodate measures needed to meet new codes, and a re-roof covering that entails majority of the existing school and distinct areas with needed attention. This project is yet another effort made to enhance an existing schools capabilities while keeping up with new code and maintaining safety as the number one priority.

Scotsdale Elementary School - YISD

Project Description
The work consists of the demolition of the current school building to make way for the new construction of an elementary school and campus that will accommodate 1000 students from grades K-5th. The new two-story building will be utilizing tilt-up construction with wings for classrooms, administrative offices, library, fine arts and athletics departments, special education and technology departments, and collaborative and support service spaces, a multi-purpose cafetorium and gymnasium with stage, a full service kitchen, on-site parking for staff and visitors, bus drop off, and two covered playgrounds and playground equipment.

Riverside Elementary School - YISD

*2023 El Paso Chapter AIA Design Award Winner

Project Description

The new two-story building will be utilizing tilt-up construction with wings for classrooms, administrative offices, library, fine arts and athletics departments, special education and technology departments, and collaborative and support service spaces, a multi-purpose cafetorium and gymnasium with stage, a full service kitchen, on-site parking for staff and visitors, bus drop off, and two covered playgrounds and playground equipment.

Dolphin Terrace Elementary School & Pre-K Center - YISD

Project Description
The Work consists of the demolition of the current school building to make way for the new construction of an elementary school and campus that will accommodate 1000 students from grades Pre-K – 5th. The new twostory building will be utilizing tilt-up construction with wings for classrooms, administrative offices, library, fine arts and athletics departments, special educations and technology departments, and collaborative and support service spaces, a multi-purpose cafetorium and gymnasium with stage, a full service kitchen, onsite parking for staff and visitors, bus drop off, and two covered playgrounds and playground equipment.

Capistrano Elementary School - YISD

Project Description
The project consisted of the remodel and improvements for Capistrano Elementary School, which entailed a complete remodel of the entry, various site imporvements, and interior remodels of various areas that needed the most attention. The main re-work of this school was based on the idea of a secure entry vestibule that would monitor and direct all circulation coming in to the school in a safe and orderly manner.

Don Haskins PK-8 - EPISD

*The Don Haskins PK-8 School is El Paso’s first Baccalaurete School

Project Description
New design and construction for Don Haskins Elementary School. The project was divided into two phases and consisted of partial demolition and remodeling of the existing building and new construction of a new two story building. This accommodated a new cafeteria, fine arts, administration, classrooms and athletic facilities. The existing gymnasium and a portion of the main building were demolished, and incorporated into the new construction. The existing gymnasium and a partial area of existing classrooms remain and were renovated after completion of new building construction. The scope of work includes site improvements, drop-off areas, parking areas, and exterior athletic facilities.

Concept Description
The main idea of the design was to incorperate the nature surrounding the site, such as native plant and wildlife, as well as the Montoya Drain. By guiding the student’s eyes outwards, it creates a special connection between the school and the surrounding nature.

Thomas Manor Elementary School - YISD

*Thomas Manor Elementary School has become the prototype design for other YISD Elementary School campuses. Additional schools that utilized the site-adapt model at YISD are Scotsdale, Riverside (formerly Cedar Grove ES), and Dolphin Terrace Elementary Schools.

Project Description
New design and construction of a building school replacement that includes 2 story floors and classroom wings with open area collaborative learning hubs. This school follows the design of 21st Century Learning by including spaces that promote collaboration and communication. Open areas are also designed for high visibility and security. The school includes a multi-use cafertorium, kitchen, gymnasium, administration offices, library and many outdoor green spaces for the students to use as learning environments. Site improvements include staff and visitor parking, playground areas and landscaping of approximately 6 acres.

Concept Description
The newly consolidated campus is designed with irregular volumes creating an attractive architectural composition inspired by the River and its elements. Blue frosted glass symbolizes its clear water at the majestic entrance that invites one to enter and become enveloped in a spacious pool, the gallery teeming with delicate brick finishes, colorful floor flow, sculpted walls panels depicting water, great circular pendent lights depicting the rings created on the water where pebbles create ripples on the surface and sitting areas that also move with the flow.

Eastwood Knolls International School Gymnasium - YISD

Project Description
Eastwood Knolls Multi-purpose Center accommodates an art room, gymnasium with spectator bleachers, boys’ and girls’ locker rooms, concession stand and site parking. It is an addition to the existing Eastwood Knolls International School. This project was part of the 2015 YISD Bond which included major renovations to the existing building. GA Architecture provided architecture and engineering services. Additional project work included roofing replacement, window replacement, interior finishes, and addition of fine arts classrooms.

Fabens Multipurpose Center - Fabens ISD

Project Description
This new construction design was for a state-of-the-art and versatile multipurpose auditorium/gym. The gym consists of 2 levels and elevated spectator seating to accommodate 800 occupants. The upper level has retractable bleachers, which allows that space to be used for other activities when not in use. The building is designed for large crowd free flow and visitor gathering spaces. Facility includes male and female full locker rooms for home and visitor participants, large occupancy public restrooms, concessions, and support spaces.

Purple Heart Elementary - SISD

*2015 El Paso Chapter AIA Design Award Winner

Project Description
The project consists of a new design and construction that was the first in El Paso to become a 21st Century Learning Elementary School. The project was divided into two phases and the first phase was successfully completed in Spring 2015. GA Architecture worked on the first phase that included 2 stories of classrooms and open space collaborative HUBS, a multipurpose cafeteria, kitchen, gymnasium, administration offices and library. The school design follows the new innovative standards of 21st Centur y learning, which encourage, reinforce and strengthen the students’ creativity, learning, ability to communicate and collaborate by having indoor collaboration spaces and green outdoor gathering spaces.

Concept Description
Purple Heart Elementary School is located on land that used to be primarily used for vehicle collection and recycling centers, “junk yards.” We found it interesting that such a place where people dispose of cars would transform into its complete opposite; a place where great paths could be born. As you approach the school you see a magnificent building that utilizes shiny metal panels to symbolize the contrast of what the disposed pieces of metal could be. The numerous curvilinear paths leading to the building give you a feel of the possibilities that life offers you, but all eventually leading to the goal of success.

Northwest Early College High School Multi-Purpose Building - Canutillo ISD

Project Description
The Northwest Early College High School required a multifunctional building within the current campus master plan that would accommodate a gymnasium, auditorium, and cafeteria, snack bar serving both the interior and the plaza area with outdoor seating. GA Architecture has provided full design services and the project was completed in January 2014.

Alderete Middle School Gymnasium - Canutillo ISD

Project Description
This project for Alderete Middle School includes a gymnasium with a UIL standard sized court, new athletic equipment, boys’ and girls’ locker rooms with double tier and ADA accessible lockers, a concession stand, a band rehearsal room, and percussion rooms. GA Architecture provided full design services.

Americas High School Weight & Training Facility - SISD

Project Description
The work consisted of new construction of a building. This was an addition to Americas High School. The work included demolition to a portion of the existing building and site work. The new building accommodates a new weight room and training facility with wet room as well as a remodeled space for a locker rooms. The addition also includes offices, storage rooms, and the site has an exterior plaza area.

Canutillo High School Athletic Field House - Canutillo ISD

Project Description
The project consisted of the construction a new building space located at 6675 South Desert Blvd. The scope of work included clearing, grading, and drainage, landscaping, concrete sidewalks, concrete pads, concrete block, metal stud framing, steel, built up roof, roofing accessories, sheet metal, metal doors, and frames, wood doors and frames, aluminum storefront framing, hardware, glazing, exterior and interior finishes, air conditioning, plumbing, sewer, electrical power, lighting systems, and fire alarm. All utilities were installed with meters and hookups, inclusive of sewer, water, gas, and electricity.

Ysleta Pre-K Center - YISD

Project Description
GA Architecture provided services of design and new construction of a Pre-K Center to accommodate 800 plus school children. The facility includes administrative offices, a cafeteria with accessible stage, a fully equipped kitchen, a large multi-purpose room, a library, a research lab, a learning court, computer lab area, classrooms with ADA compliant rest rooms, playground areas, accessible bus drop-off areas, and site landscaping.

Concept Description
By using the idea of a hard bound book that contains the front and back hard covers to represent the two wings of the Pre K Center and the book spine or the center of the book to be the current Media Center that consist of the Library, Research lab, Learning Court, and Technology rooms. The child’s mind is not only stimulated when inside the building but as with the story book, it has a beginning and an ending. On the Pre K, a child senses are motivated upon arrival at the exterior of the facility. The exterior site has an abundance of visually stimulating surroundings, such as the vibrant colors, the complete alphabet, primary colors and the word spelling at the separate bus stops so that from the time the young mind arrives at the Center the student is cast upon a story book of learning

Harmony Science Academy

Project Description
The scope of work for this project consists of the new construction and design for Harmony Science Academy, a school which houses 1,000 students from grades 6-12.
