Project Description
The project consists of a new construction for New Parish Church Building that integrates Chapel, Baptistery, Sacristy, Offices, and support spaces. Site Improvements include sidewalks, landscaping, added parking and improvements to tie in to existing complex and site. A grand entry and leadup to the altar is one of the prominent design concepts for this project, as well as a circular congregation area where the altar acts as the epicenter of the entire church.
Concept Description
The concept for the church began with geometrical premise of a circle to represent the Eucharist and Body of Christ, which is the most important part of the Catholic Church. Using geometrical figures – Circle and Square – they guided the design to determine the placement, layout and church spaces to accommodate liturgical or non-liturgical activities. The circle represents (Infinity) no beginning and no end, while the square signifies (Finite) having limits or bounds representing where heaven and earth meet, or, the hierarchy of heaven and earth to human and divine interaction.
